I am a Scientific Officer at the Joint research Centre of the European Commission. I work in the field of technology enhanced learning in formal and non formal settings. I have been involved in the design and evaluation of a wide range of digital tools like multi-sensory technologies, ubiquitous applications, robotics, exploratory environments and digital games. I am particularly interested in i) the epistemologies underlying the models behind learning analytics ii)games as expressive media and iii) the impact of digital technologies in education.

EXPERIENCE
EXPERIENCE
CAREER SUMMARY

My work experience in technology enhanced learning and digital education  has been mainly acquired in the context of projects funded by the European commission -3 year projects with a 3.000.000 Euro budget on average- where I collaborated with researchers from different disciplines and European countries. In the course of my career I undertook teaching and research appointments with academic institutions (Universities and Research Centres) in Greece and across Europe, with SMEs focusing on the development of digital technologies for learning and with the Research Executive Agency of the European Commission for the evaluation of research proposals.

FOCUS OF WORK

Introducing digital technologies in real learning settings (formal and non-formal), designing digital tools (i.e. mobile apps, games educational software etc), designing learning experiences with digital technologies (i.e. designing learning scenarios for use of ICT in the classroom, in cultural institutions etc); informing policy making through research results to national and European Funding Bodies (Write up of research based scientific reports). My teaching experience includes courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level in typical and distance learning settings.
